2 bodies found near Lake Merritt

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Two bodies were found near Lake Merritt in Oakland this evening, police said.

Around 5:10 p.m., officers were en route to Grand and Lake Park avenues where the bodies were discovered under a freeway overpass, Oakland police Officer J. Moore said. Interstate Highway 580 is located near the intersection.

Officers were still at the scene conducting a death investigation as of 7:05 p.m., Moore said.

Authorities said they do not suspect foul play, but the causes of death remain undetermined at this time.
