Oakland will find out Tuesday if a San Diego-based businessman will be able to move forward with his plan to be part of Oakland's proposed Coliseum City development.

Oakland's City Council is set to decide whether to grant him a 90-day extension to secure financing.

The decision looms as our media partner, the Bay Area News Group, reports Mayor Libby Schaaf is calling for two proposals for redeveloping the 120-acre coliseum complex. For the last two years, Oakland has struggled to recruit a major investor for the project.

She wants the Athletics and the Raiders to submit separate plans.

Schaaf's plan apparently includes at least one new stadium, along with a mix of homes and businesses.
