SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (KGO) -- The mayor of San Rafael is fed up with the homeless who congregate at the city's Boyd Park and is taking extraordinary measures to drive them away.

Starting Monday, Mayor Gary Phillips is closing the park for at least 30 days.

He says he wants to break the cycle of the homeless coming to the park to drink, do drugs, and litter.

Phillips wants to have some family-oriented events there.

Some of the homeless have said they'll be back as soon as the park reopens.
