DAHUK, Iraq (KGO) -- Actress and United Nations Special Envoy Angelina Jolie urged world leaders to do more for people in Iraq and Syria as she made a surprise visit to a refugee camp in northern Iraq.
Jolie said the United Nations Refugee Agency received only half the funding it needed last year for programs in Iraq and Syria.
The actress met mothers at the camp whose children have been kidnapped by ISIS.
"As a parent, I cannot imagine a greater horror," she said. "And they are overwhelmed by the thoughts of what is happening to their children right now with the knowledge that there is abuse, slave labor and sexual slavery."
More than 1 million refugees are living in this region as a result of the Syrian civil war and ISIS overtaking large swathes of Iraq
