SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- There's a traffic alert for drivers who drive in and out of San Francisco. Part of Highway 1 will be closed starting this week.

It is part of the ongoing Doyle Drive project, designed to ease traffic on the San Francisco side of the bridge.

The northbound lanes of Highway 1, from Lake Street to Doyle Drive, will close Wednesday and Thursday at midnight and reopen at 5 a.m.

It will also close Friday from 1 a.m. - 5 a.m. and Saturday from 1 a.m. - 6 a.m., with more overnight closures next week.

Crews will be removing temporary support structures as they finalize work on the new Doyle Drive.
