SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A minor traffic accident involving a CHP motorcycle officer on Thursday temporarily shut down two eastbound lanes on the Bay Bridge near Treasure Island.

Authorities told ABC7 News reporter Carolyn Tyler that the accident occurred while the officer was trying to stop another motorcyclist for a violation. He somehow started to lose control of his bike so he laid it down.

Another CHP officer pulled the motorcyclist over further down the bridge and ticketed him for the initial offense. It is not believed that the cyclist was responsible for the officer crashing, authorities say.

An officer at the scene reported the CHP officer involved has only minor injuries.

All lanes have reopened following the accident.
