A possible candidate for the Republican nomination in 2016 made waves Wednesday morning for comments he made on CNN.

Ben Carson told "New Day" host Chris Cuomo that being gay is "absolutely" a choice.

Cuomo: "You think they have control over their sexuality?"

Carson: "Absolutely."

Cuomo: "You think being gay is a choice?"

Carson: "Absolutely."

Cuomo: "Why do you say that?"

Carson: "Because a lot of people who go into prison go into prison straight, and when they come out they're gay. So, did something happen while they were in there?"

Carson went on to say his argument thwarts the notion that sexual orientation is not a choice.

He's a retired neurosurgeon, but that comment puts him at odds with the majority of the medical community -- especially psychologists.
