Police seeking information about suspects who shot man in SoMa

SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco police are seeking information about a man who pulled up in a red sedan and then shot a 59-year-old man in the leg as he was walking in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood on Thursday night.

The driver and two passengers pulled up to the intersection of Fifth and Harrison streets, near the off-ramp from westbound Interstate Highway 80, in a red four-door sedan at about 9:10 p.m., according to San Francisco police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza.

After coming to a stop, the driver, described as a black man between 25 and 35 years old, wearing all black clothing, proceeded to get out of the car with a handgun and shot the victim in the leg. Two male passengers were also in the car at the time of the shooting and have not been identified, Esparza said.

The victim had been walking south on Fifth Street when the driver approached him. After shooting the victim, the driver got back into the car and took off traveling west on Harrison Street, Esparza said.

The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Police have not arrested any suspects in connection with the shooting and are working to determine a possible motive.
