The Star Wars universe is about to explode with new stories that connect the final movie "The Return of the Jedi" to the upcoming sequel "The Force Awakens."

The new movie will take place 32 years later and in that time, a lot happens to characters such as Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia.

Lucasfilm announced at least 20 new books to help fill the gap.

They'll also drop Easter eggs that foreshadow events in the upcoming movie. And one of the storylines will include the first gay character in the official Star Wars universe -- a lesbian imperial officer.

The books arrive this fall and the movie arrives in December.
