OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Oakland Running Festival takes place this weekend, and one 10-year-old hopes to set a world record.

Sunday's marathon will take runners from downtown to the Oakland Hills.

There is also a half marathon, which what Elliot Daniels from Campbell has his sights set on. He wants to set a world record for 10-year-olds.

He has some work cut out for him. Elliot needs to run 13.1 miles in less than one hour, 31 minutes and eight seconds. That's the time set by another 10-year-old in Davis.

That works out to about seven minutes per mile.

Elliot says he runs because he's good at it and he enjoys it.

Nearly 10,000 people will be running Sunday. Many in the city come out to cheer on the runners.

Expect quite a few road closures throughout the morning.
