The White House Science Fair featured exhibits from students from all across the country.
San Jose resident Ruchi Pandya showed off her research.
The test she developed can identify key warning signs of cardiac arrest with just a single drop of blood.
The Lynbrook High School student hopes one day the test will be available at every pharmacy.
"Something like this could take the form of a insulin-based test, so you can to CVS, pick it up, use it, and throw it away. This would be extremely cheap, very economical and really revolutionize the in-home patient care," Pandya said.
Pandya hopes to major in material science and engineering in college and get a job in Silicon Valley once she graduates.
Two other Bay Area students were part of the more than 100 participants of this year's fair.
