Firefighter injured while battling grass fire in San Martin

GILROY, Calif. -- A firefighter suffered a sprained ankle while battling a grass fire in San Martin Monday afternoon, according to a Cal Fire division chief.

Firefighters responded to a report of a grass fire at the corner of Santa Teresa Boulevard and California Avenue around 2:20 p.m., Cal Fire Division Chief Jamie Norton said.

The fire burned at least 10 acres and is now fully contained.

Firefighters were able to prevent the blaze from spreading to two nearby structures, according to Norton.

No other details about the fire were immediately available.
