SAN JOSE -- A van that crashed into a pole has disrupted light-rail service to and from downtown San Jose this morning, a Santa Clara Valley Transportation Agency spokeswoman said.

The van crashed into an overhead wire pole on North First Street between Jackson and Taylor streets around 9 a.m., VTA spokeswoman Brandi Childress said.

A bus bridge has been set up for passengers between the Karina and St. James stations, Childress said.

VTA trains heading south will stop at the Karina station and northbound trains will stop at the St. James station, agency officials said.

The crash has impacted service for those traveling between downtown San Jose and the Civic Center area, Childress said.

The service disruption is estimated to continue until 12:30 p.m., according to VTA officials.
