OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Now that basketball season is over, the world champion Golden State Warriors are spending more time focusing on the community.

In Oakland Tuesday, Festus Ezeli participated in a basketball clinic at Jamtown -- near Laney College. He talked about his journey getting to the NBA from his native Nigeria.

ABC7 News was on the court as Ezeli played a little one-on-one with the kids. One of them even hit a shot over the 6'11" center. He said it's fun... but that it was also an opportunity to encourage young people to always do their best and to work hard in school.

"They look up to us players and they want to know more about us, so I use that to talk to them about doing the right things," Ezeli said.

The clinic was part of the College Track program that helps students prepare for higher learning.
