Suspect at large after sexual assault in victim's home

SAN CARLOS, Calif. -- The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is warning the public to be vigilant of suspicious people in their neighborhoods after a woman was sexually assaulted Sunday night in her San Carlos home.

Around 10:15 p.m., a woman in her 30s answered a knock at the front door of a home in the 200 block of Chestnut Street.

The victim allowed the suspect into the home. Once inside the suspect sexually assaulted her, according to sheriff's deputies.

The suspect walked out the front door and left the scene in an unknown direction. Responding officers were unable to locate him, and the investigation is ongoing, according to deputies.
