SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Starbucks began closing the first of its La Boulange restaurants Friday in the Bay Area.

Employees at the eatery in San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood sold the last croissants and quiches.

Starbucks acquired La Boulange three years ago and began offering its baked goods at its coffee shops. Fans came in Friday afternoon for one last taste.

"It's been my daily habit to come here for the iced coffee in the afternoon and this was the last one available. So I was able to grab it and get my iced coffee," said Monique Montil, a La Boulange customer.

Past and present employees posed for one last picture together.

The closures of the other 21 La Boulange restaurants will continue through September.
