Antioch police investigate third homicide of year

ANTIOCH, Calif. -- One person has died following a shooting in Antioch Sunday evening.

At 6:25 p.m. officers responded to a report of shots heard in the 1800 block of Cavallo Road, according to police.

While responding to the incident, officers received an additional report regarding a man suffering from a gunshot wound nearby. When officers arrived they found the victim on the ground, police said.

Medical personnel transported the victim to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to police, this is the city's third homicide of the year.
