SANTA CLARA, Calif. (KGO) -- Preparations are underway for this week's Super Bowl 50 kickoff event in San Francisco.

The NFL and the Super Bowl Committee are hosting Wednesday's celebration at Justin Herman Plaza to introduce the events during Super Bowl week.

Just last month, Mayor Ed Lee said there will be a focused effort to get the homeless off the streets leading up to the game.

He wants to place them into 500 units of supportive housing during the festivities.
