SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Several BART stations are about to get makeovers. The transit agency said Thursday that East Bay riders will see the biggest upgrades.

A remodel of the El Cerrito del Norte Station should be complete by 2018. Improvements include new elevators and restrooms.

BART is also working to replace the fare barriers at the 19th Street Oakland Station. Plans for new bicycle racks and flooring are also in the works.

In San Francisco, the Powell Street Station is getting new ticket vending machines and new lighting, among other improvements.

BART is also working with the city to upgrade entrances and escalators.

The agency says most upgrades should be completed by 2019.
