Burglars slaughter several hundred chickens at Foster Farms

FRESNO, Calif. -- The Fresno County Sheriff's Office said about 920 chickens were killed after burglars broke into a Foster Farms facility south of Caruthers.

Investigators said on September 20th they investigated a burglary at a Caruthers Foster Farms facility. They said the suspects pulled back part of the fence, entered a chicken shed, and began slaughtering chickens with a golf club, or other blunt object.

Foster Farms said the 920 chickens killed were worth about $5,000. They are now offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the people responsible.
