WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (KGO) -- A car plowed through restaurant in Walnut Creek Tuesday afternoon. Luckily, no one was injured. But it's the third such accident in Walnut Creek in a month.

The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District was called to a Panda Express at 2280 Oak Grove Road at 4:53 p.m. on report of a vehicle that had crashed into a building.

Marco Tedalgo was on the other side of the Panda Express service door washing dishes, when a car crashed into the side of the restaurant. He says an elderly driver and his wife, who are regular customers, got out of the car in shock.

"That's what I heard. A big boom," Telgado said. "The old woman is shaking and I think the old man is a little bit injured."

The man was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Tedalgo says the couple also had two children in the back seat who were not hurt.

"It seems that they stepped on the gas instead of the brake. They accelerated into the building and caused the damage that you see right there," said Contra Costa County Fire Capt. Andrew Bozzo said.

This is the third such accident in Walnut Creek in one month's time. On Feb. 2 an elderly driver crashed through a CVS Pharmacy injuring a pedestrian at the Countrywood Shopping Center. On Feb. 18, a car smashed into the Sports Basement on Ignacio Valley Road. The driver also hit the accelerator instead of the brake.
