Civic Center BART station reopens after woman jumps to her death

SAN FRANCISCO -- BART has reopened the Civic Center station in San Francisco after a woman died late Saturday night.

BART officials said at 11:36 p.m. BART police received reports of a woman acting irrationally on the concourse level at the downtown station.

According to BART officials, police approached the unstable woman before she jumped from the concourse level and landed on the platform.

BART officials said the station would remain closed for the remainder of the night, however trains did run through in both directions.

The station reopened after 8:00 a.m. for normal Sunday service.

BART officials reported MUNI is providing mutual aid while the station is closed.
