Drifters sentenced for SF, Fairfax killings
Two drifters were handed to lengthy jail sentences for a pair of murders in San Francisco and Marin County.

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (KGO) -- Two drifters were handed to lengthy jail sentences for a pair of murders in San Francisco and Marin County.

Each of them claims to be remorseful for the 2015 murders of a Canadian tourist and a Marin County man. Each asked for forgiveness from their victim's families, but there was no forgiveness offered outside the courthouse Tuesday.

Sean Angold will be in protective custody while serving his sentence after testifying against his two accomplices.

The three were convicted of murdering Canadian backpacker Audrey Carey in Golden Gate Park during the crime spree two years ago. Two days later Steve Carter of Marin County and his dog were shot to death along a hiking trail near Fairfax.

In court, the emotional painful impact statements from the victims' families were read. "You became cold blooded murders, so now be prepared to pay for it," Carter's wife Lokita said.

Prosecutor Aicha Mievis read a letter from Audrey Carey's mother who lives in Montreal. "They should serve their entire sentence, and I really hope none of them are ever released from prison," the letter read.

The killers had their own statements, saying they were remorseful. "I feel so much guilt and shame for my wrongdoing, the horrible decision I made. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry," Alligood said.

The reaction outside court was not one of forgiveness. "There is no gratification really from whatever punishment they will get," Carter family friend Christina De Jongh said.

Sean Angold got 15 years to life. Lila Alligood received 50 years. Morrison Lampley, the actual shooter got 100 years to life.
