Evacuations ordered for 1,200-acre Tassajara Fire near Monterey

MONTEREY, Calif. (KGO) -- A new wildfire is growing south of Monterey and Salinas. The Tassajara Fire started around 3 p.m. Saturday near Jamesburg.

The 1,200-acre fire is 10 percent contained and authorities have announced a mandatory evacuation for the Parrot Ranch area.

Cal Fire says at least 300 homes are in danger and six have been destroyed.
