SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (KGO) -- It's been less than two months since Nepal suffered its worst earthquake since 1934. The 7.8 magnitude quake and 7.3 magnitude aftershocks last month killed thousands and left at least 100,000 people homeless.

Despite slipping from the headlines, aid required to rebuild is as needed as ever. Filmmaker Will Parrinello who is raising money today through a special benefit, the Nepal Film Festival in San Rafael.

"I think a lot of us go to Nepal for the first time because we have a love of the mountain and the beautiful culture that's there, and then we get to know the people. And, because of their spiritual beliefs-Buddhism, Hinduism, they have this incredible perspective on life and the world. Although they have very little, they're able to find happiness in life. It's because of the people I wanted to help," said Parrinello.

There are three separate showings at the Smith Rafael Film Center, beginning today at 2 p.m. 100 percent of the proceeds will go to grass roots organizations to help quake victims. Please click here to help donate to the film festival's relief efforts.
