Firefighter injured in 53-acre grass fire near Livermore
A 53-acre grass fire, east of Livermore, has been contained. One home was damaged and a barn, vehicle and were destroyed.

LIVERMORE, Calif. (KGO) -- A 53-acre grass fire on Tesla Road, east of Livermore, has been contained. One home was damaged and a barn, vehicle and shipping container were destroyed.

The fire was reported in the area of Tesla Road and Clifford Drive at about 4 p.m. Thursday, according to the Alameda County Fire Department.

The fire spread rapidly and had grown to 53 acres as of shortly before 6 p.m., but firefighters stopped its forward progress.

One firefighter was injured working to put out the fire. A Cal Fire official could not immediately provide an update on the seriousness of the injury.

Crews had to close Tesla Road at Greenville Road and Cal Fire received reports of wires down in the area.

Cal Fire sent six fire engines, four bulldozers, two hand crews, two air tankers and two helicopters to fight the blaze. Alameda County firefighters are also working to contain the fire.
