McCoy had been going to the teen center since seventh-grade.

Mourners wrote notes to McCoy and shared stories about her. They talked about the positive person she had become and were looking forward to seeing her as a mother.

"She truly wanted to succeed in life," said Anisha Johnson. "And I know that she had a lot of dreams and aspirations about being with her daughter."

Gonzalo Rucubo adds, "You know, that hurts. I was really looking forward to being able to hold that child at some point."

McCoy wanted to become a mentor at the Peacekeepers, and talked about maybe becoming a police officer.
