CUBA (KGO) -- A scheduled commercial flight from the United States has landed in Cuba for the first time in more than 50 years. JetBlue Flight 387 landed in Santa Clara, Cuba, around 8 a.m. PT after departing Ft. Lauderdale earlier this morning with 150 people on board.
Passengers include members of the media, airline executives and other VIPs, 60 people are regular travelers. Both of the pilots of this historic flight have Cuban parents.
Ten U.S.-based airlines that have now been approved for scheduled service to the island are Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, JetBlue, Silver Airways, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, Sun Country and United Airlines.
