BURLINGAME, Calif. (KGO) -- Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly shot and killed a man next to the Hyatt Regency hotel in Burlingame near the San Francisco International Airport on Sunday morning.

Even though the gunman is still on the run, police said they don't think there's any threat to the public at this time. They said the victim was targeted.

Police responded to a report of a shooting. They found a man in his late 20s injured in a driveway leading up to the Hyatt Regency hotel. He died of his injuries.

Officers spent hours investigating and speaking to guests at the hotel.

Investigators are not releasing many details at this time, but said the victim was not a guest at the Hyatt. They believe he did visit someone who is staying at the hotel. "At this time we are still working on leads to identify the suspect, that being said, we believe the victim was targeted and this was not a random act of violence," Burlingame Police Department Lt. Jay Kiely said.

The Hyatt is typically a quiet commuters hotel since it's only a few minutes away from the airport.

Right now, it's filled with people in town for a tattoo conference that's taking place at the hotel.

Hyatt employees have not issued a comment about the shooting at this time.

This is Burlingame's first homicide of the year.
