A bomb squad in Fairfield has worked through the night to dispose of dangerous materials after an explosion at a home injured a man.

FAIRFIELD, Calif. (KGO) -- A bomb squad in Fairfield has worked through the night to dispose of dangerous materials after an explosion at a home injured a man.

Around 5 p.m. Wednesday, police received calls from residents reporting that they had heard a loud explosion in the area of Catlin Drive and Tolenas Avenue. When first responders arrived, they found 42-year-old Anthony Stewart suffering from severe burns. He was transported to the hospital and is in serious condition.

A large quantity of undetonated devices and explosive materials were removed from the garage by the bomb squad.

Several residents were relocated for the night with the help of the Red Cross.
