BOLINAS, Calif. -- Officials announced Wednesday that a Santa Rosa woman who was last seen Tuesday morning has been found dead of an apparent suicide.

Santa Rosa police Sgt. David Linscomb says Jade Dashiell, 41, was last seen dropping off her children at school. She was reported missing around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Dashiell's white GMC Yukon was found at the Palomarin trailhead near Bolinas around 5 p.m. Tuesday, said John Dell'Osso, a spokesman for the Point Reyes National Seashore.

Santa Rosa police said Dashiell called someone in Bolinas. Dashiell might be despondent over recent life events and a gun was missing from her home, Linscomb said.

The National Park Service and the Marin County Sheriff's Office searched for Dashiell until darkness Tuesday, the sergeant said.

Dell'Osso said the foot search resumed around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday and an air search by the U.S. Coast Guard and the California Highway Patrol began when the fog in the area lifted.

The Marin County Sheriff's Office, Marin County Fire Department, Marin County Search and Rescue, National Park Service and Santa Rosa police were involved in the search, Dell'Osso said.
