Oakland artists meet with city officials to discuss evictions
The Ghost Ship warehouse fire put a spotlight on issues of building safety, code violations and has prompted fears of eviction among Oakland artists. Some met with city officials Friday to voice their concerns.

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- The Ghost Ship fire put a spotlight on issues of building safety, code violations and has prompted fears of eviction among the people who live in similar buildings across the city.

Dozens of them gathered Friday for a community meeting with city officials and tenants' rights organizations.

Oakland artists were fed up and afraid after the Ghost Ship fire, concerned about possible widespread evictions.
