OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Oakland police need help solving a mystery, after a man was seen grabbing a woman and putting her into the trunk of a car.

A witness told officers that they saw it happen along Sterling Drive just after 10 p.m. Monday night.

Police are hoping someone will file a missing person's report.

"We want to ensure that whatever happened, that person is safe. If they need any medical or police assistance we want to be able to identify and locate this person as soon as possible," said Oakland police Officer Johnna Watson.

Police believe the car is a 2000 model, black, two-door and its windows appear to be covered with blue, paper plates. Investigators don't know what make that car is.
