Police investigating armed robbery in Walnut Creek

Police in Walnut Creek are investigating a Friday armed robbery.

Officers responded at 11:33 p.m. to Piper Ridge Court in response to a call of an armed robbery that had just occurred.

Responding officers located two women, who reported being robbed by a group of three young men, police said.

One of the men was armed with what appeared to be a handgun.

The men robbed one of the women of her purse before the suspects fled the area in a vehicle, police said.

There were no reported injuries in the robbery.

The suspects were described as two white men in their late teens, about 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall and with thin builds, and a dark-skinned man in his late teens, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and with a thin build.

The suspects fled the area in an older silver Honda or similar four-door vehicle with yellow paper license plates with black writing.
