Portland home graffitied after couple moves from California

PORTLAND, Ore. (KGO) -- A couple who recently moved from southern California to Portland, Oregon says they feel threatened after waking up to graffiti on their door.

The words "get California out of Portland" and "move back" were spray painted in gold. The vandal also scratched and painted the couple's car.

The home owner thinks he knows who did this, saying on Saturday he argued with a man who raced down his street.

"Other than this little instance, the city is great the community is great, it's just unfortunate when you have people who are frustrated that this is how they express themselves," Preston Page said.

Anti-California sentiment in Portland has been going on for decades.

Some Portlanders blame out-of-towners for rising rents and cost of living.

Just a few weeks ago, police responded to reports of a woman handing out cards, telling Californians to go home.
