SAN LORENZO, Calif. (KGO) -- A San Lorenzo resident fought with two men who were allegedly stealing medical marijuana from his home Wednesday night.

The Alameda County Sheriff's Department says a man came home to find two men gathering up his pot plants inside his home Wednesday night at about 11:30 on Via Primero Way. Deputies say the two men then beat up the homeowner and the homeowner eventually grabbed a knife and chased off the burglars.

A neighbor called 911 when he heard all the commotion. The sheriff's department arrived to find 200 pot plants; the homeowner has a medical marijuana card, but is only supposed to have 30 plants. Sheriff's deputies have executed a search warrant at the home.

There is no word on if the homeowner could face possible charges, or if the extra pot plants will be confiscated. He was beat up and bloodied, but not taken to the hospital.

The burglars escaped with no way for deputies to know if they were injured in the fight.
