SOURCE: Father of 'kidnapped' San Francisco baby also arrested

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- There's new information Monday in an ongoing investigation into a baby reportedly taken from a car in San Francisco. A woman was later arrested on a Muni bus with the baby who was reunited with her mom.

A source familiar with the investigation tells ABC7 News the baby's father was also arrested on child endangerment shortly after the woman was arrested on the bus for kidnapping. According to that source, the baby's father picked up the female suspect on 6th street then drove with her to a park.

He got out of the car leaving the female suspect with the baby. When he didn't come back she took the baby and got on a muni bus. When he got back to the car and the baby was gone he called police.

The San Francisco District Attorney's office has not formally charged either the baby's father or the female suspect. They are working with Contra Costa County authorities to place a probation hold on female suspect.

She had an unrelated prior charge there. Both are still in custody.
