South San Francisco police investigate attempted residential burglary

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO -- Police in South San Francisco are investigating a Thursday attempted residential burglary after officers came across two suspicious individuals in the driveway of a residence.

Officers were conducting surveillance in the Buri Buri and Promenade neighborhoods in response to a rash of residential burglaries in the area.

Around 2:20 p.m., an officer noticed two suspicious subjects in the driveway of a residence in the 500 block of Hibiscus Way.

The officer tried to contact the subjects, but they fled on foot to an adjacent neighborhood, police said.

Officers set up a perimeter and several subjects were detained for further investigation.

The incident caused two local schools to shelter students in place while the neighborhood was searched, police said.

Police said the officer interrupt a residence being burglarized.

The subjects were described as a black man in his 20s and wearing a light blue sports jacket and blue jeans and a Hispanic man in his 20s wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans.
