MONTEREY, Calif. -- A Marina resident has pleaded guilty to seven counts of vehicle theft and has been sentenced to seven years in prison, Monterey County District Attorney Dean Flippo announced Tuesday.

Jennifer Lorentz, 22, went on a crime spree throughout Monterey County with her boyfriend on June 18 and June 22 of 2014 and stole vehicles and the contents of vehicles, prosecutors said.

Lorentz was able to evade police on multiple occasions, sometimes wrecking stolen vehicles and stealing others as she tried to avoid capture, prosecutors said.

She was eventually taken into custody when a Monterey County Sheriff's Office deputy found her sitting in a car on the side of the road in a stolen vehicle in Pajaro, prosecutors said.

The deputy had stopped to assist her and determined her vehicle was stolen.
