RICHMOND, Calif. (KGO) -- The CHP says a woman who jumped off the Bay Bridge following a DUI traffic collision last month has been arrested.

According to the CHP, Erlynn Sanchez-Edwards was driving a stolen car when the crash happened on Aug. 12. They say she jumped from the side of the bridge to evade officers who were trying to help her.

On Monday, the CHP announced that Sanchez-Edwards was taken into custody without incident and booked into Santa Rita Jail for vehicle theft, receipt of stolen vehicle, hit-and-run causing injury, resisting arrest, and driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs causing injury.

"I commend the CHP officers and investigators from throughout the Bay Area who performed excellent police work identifying witnesses, investigating leads, and getting the word out," said CHP Captain Christopher Sherry in a statement. "The CHP is very grateful for all of the information and tips provided by the community. The safe apprehension of this suspect would not be possible without their help."
