Firefighters stop forward progress of Novato brush fire that forced evacuations

NOVATO, Calif. (KGO) -- Firefighters in Novato contained a brush fire that threatened homes and prompted evacuations Sunday afternoon.

The fire burning in the area of 7th Street and Carmel Drive was first reported after 3 p.m. and had reportedly burned eight to 10 acres. Firefighters contained the fire and no homes were burned.
