Officer-involved shooting investigated in Hayward
Alameda County sheriff's deputies are investigating an officer-involved shooting after a pursuit in Hayward. Deputies said they were forced to fire at violent felon who tried to ram them with a stolen car.

HAYWARD, Calif. (KGO) -- A pursuit involving a stolen car ended with shots ringing out in a quiet neighborhood in Hayward.

Alameda County sheriff's deputies pursued a stolen car until it came to a dead end at Ricardo and Falgren. The pursuit lasted 5-10 minutes Deputies say the suspect then drove the car towards the officers. One officer fired shots, hitting only the car. The car then crashed into a telephone pole.

The suspect has been arrested and is described by deputies as a violent criminal with many felony convictions.
