Three roads closed in Livermore due to mudslide
LIVERMORE, Calif. (KGO) -- Three roads east of Livermore had to close Monday evening because of mudflows. The Alameda County Public Works agency says mud came down on Patterson Pass Road. There were also several mudflows on Tesla and Corral Hollow roads.
One man ended up with his car in a ditch. Heavy rain created slick, muddy road conditions on Corral Hollow Road, east of Livermore.

Earlier on Monday in Pittsburg, more than just rain came down. Hail pelted the area. And in Concord, the streets couldn't drain fast enough and drivers had to plow through at least a half foot of water on Bates Avenue.
Regardless, it is the mud on the rural roads that has been causing the most trouble. Crews have brought in heavy equipment for the clean-up effort. Patterson Pass Road, Tesla Road and Corral Hollow Road were all hit hard by the downpour.
"The water was out to where we're standing now. It took everything from these hills and the ditch on the side and washed it all out onto the roads, all the way down," JR from the Alameda County Department of Public Works said. When asked how the cleanup effort was going he said, "Slow, but we'll get it done."
It's a busy start to the rainy season.

There was a really ugly commute for many drivers Monday morning. One of the major backups began at 2:15 a.m. on I-580 before the Greenville Road exit. A truck carrying 30,000 pounds of frozen chickens overturned. At the peak of the morning commute, delays were up to five hours. All lanes of traffic finally opened around 1:30 p.m. along I-580 in Livermore. No one was injured in the accident.
In East Contra Costa County, the wet roads may have caused a rollover accident on Byron Highway, near the Alameda County line. It happened just after 6 a.m. and one person was taken to the hospital.
