Pedestrian killed in Santa Clara crash, traffic diverted from area

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- One person is dead after being hit by a car Friday in Santa Clara.

The incident happened on Kiely Boulevard between Barcells and Toledo avenues this afternoon, Santa Clara police confirmed.

Traffic is being diverted and the area will remain closed through the evening commute, police said.

Police are investigating the crash and drivers are asked to avoid the area.
