YMCA and libraries team up to give kids free lunches

Kids can get free lunches on the Peninsula this summer thanks to the YMCA and local libraries.

Dozens of kids enjoyed lunch inside the library on Grand Avenue in South San Francisco Tuesday afternoon.

That library is one of many locations offering free lunch from now until the start of the school year.

The YMCA of Silicon Valley hopes the free lunches keep many children from going hungry because they aren't being served food at school during the summer.

The YMCA says the following summer meal sites are open to local youth on a first-come, first-served basis:

- Atherton Library: 2 Dinkelspiel Station Lane, Atherton, CA 94027
(Morning Snack and Lunch)

- Belle Haven Elementary: 415 Ivy Drive, Menlo Park, CA 94025
(Lunch only)

- East Palo Alto Library: 2415 University Avenue, East Palo Alto, CA 94303
(Morning Snack and Lunch)

- Fair Oaks Library: 2510 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA 94063
