GENOA, Italy -- Video shows a bridge collapse in northern Italy in the midst of a violent storm on Tuesday that has left at least 25 dead, according to the city's mayor.

Genoa Mayor Marco Bucci told Sky TG24 that more than 25 people had been killed and that at least 11 were injured.

Sniffer dogs are at work in the rubble to find those who are still trapped, Amalia Tedeschi, an official with Italian firefighters, told RAI state TV. She said that two injured people had already been extracted alive.

The Associated Press reports that a section of the Morandi Bridge collapsed over an industrial area during the storm, which began suddenly. That section of the Morandi Bridge is about 150 feet high. The part that collapsed is about 260 feet long, while the full bridge is about .6 miles.

The head of Italy's civil protection agency, Angelo Borrelli, said 30-35 cars and three heavy trucks were on the part that collapsed.
