SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A Daly City Police motorcycle officer is recovering after crashing during a high-speed pursuit on I-280 from Daly City to San Francisco on Sunday morning.

Daly City Police officials say earlier in the day, the unidentified veteran officer saw two male suspects casing parked cars at the Serramonte Shopping Center. The two suspects took off and the officer gave chase on I-280 Northbound.

"The officer lost control of his motorcycle near Alemany Boulevard and crashed during the high-speed pursuit," said Daly City Police Sgt, Ron Harrison.

Moments later, the suspects collided with a Daly City patrol car which had continued the chase. No officers were injured in that collision, but the suspects took off on foot into the nearby Ingleside neighborhood.

A brief police manhunt found the two men hiding in the backyard of a home on Bowdoin Street. Their identities and specific charges have not been released.

"Police searched my backyard and found the two guys hiding between my backyard fence and the neighbors," said homeowner Shane O'Neil.

The police officer was taken to San Francisco General hospital where he's in stable condition with minor cuts and bruises.
