Police warn of pickpockets during holiday shopping rush

Police have a warning for you as we enter the final stretch of the holiday shopping rush -- watch out for pickpockets!

A shopper in San Diego got caught off guard when she turned away from her cart. Surveillance video shows a man who sees his chance, takes her wallet, then hides it under a tote bag. Eventually, he handed it off to an accomplice.

San Diego police released the video hoping it will lead to an arrest.

Here's how to make sure this doesn't happen to you.

Consumer experts say don't be distracted by conversation when someone walks up to you.

Keep your belongings in your line of sight.

Tip 3:

Be sure to carry as few credit cards as possible.

Tip 4:

And as for your wallet and phone, keep them in the bottom of your purse. The less accessible they are to you, they less they are to thieves, too.
