Bay Area Filipino community reacts to growing tension between U.S., Philippines

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- There's more tension Thursday in relations between the United States and the Philippines. That country's president increased his criticism of the U.S. and did so from China.

Diplomats in San Francisco's Philippine Consul General's office declined to be interviewed.

There are many issues at stake, including a softening in the Philippine position regarding Chinese military build-ups in the South China Sea.

The Unites States and Philippines have a long history of cooperation. Wayne Freedman has local reaction to the turmoil.
