WASHINGTON (KGO) -- Americans hadn't heard a lot from her on the campaign trail, but now she is poised to make history.

Melania Trump will become America's first foreign-born First Lady in nearly 200 years.

John Quincy Adams' wife Louisa was the first - she was from London.

Melania grew up in Slovenia before she became an American citizen. The 46-year-old met Donald in 1998 when she was modeling in New York. The couple married in 2005 and welcomed their son, Barron, a year later.

As First Lady, Melania says one of her biggest platforms will be combating cyberbullying.
